Very appreciated for its aroma and its antibacterial properties, this Canadian white cedar is a Thuja from the cypress family and should not be mistaken with the Atlantic cedar. The American Indians call it the tree of life, undoubtedly because of its purifying and healing virtues. For a long time, this oil was the principal ingredient of the famous product ¨Vicks¨. It is important to note that the oil of the thuja is rich in thujone, a neurotoxin substance to use only externally. Just a few drops on a wound help a fast scaring while avoiding a possible infection. Its antifungal properties make it an ideal oil to look after the mycoses, in particular those developing on toenails. One also uses it in massage, pure or diluted, for the rheumatic and arthritic pains. |
